Oliver is a theatre-maker and musician based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara. He has over a decade of experience working in the arts, across theatre, film, podcasting, education and indie rock and roll.
In 2016 he graduated from the NZSM Sonic Arts programme with First Class Honours, and won the John Young Award for Composition in both his last two years.
He has been nominated four times for the Wellington Theatre Award for sound design, winning in 2016 and 2023.
He has done post-production for Voyager-nominated RNZ podcast series Killjoy, NZME podcast Chewing The Facts, and The Spinoff's When The Facts Change. He has worked with Te Papa on audio guides for their Terracotta Warriors, Toi Arts and Surrealist Art exhibitions.
As a company member of Binge Culture, his devising and sound design credits include Ancient Shrines and Half Truths, You and A.I. (Most Innovative - NZ Fringe 2024), and Werewolf - which in 2024 had a sell-out season at the Edinburgh Fringe.
He has recently been teaching a sound design module at Toi Whakaari and sound mixing large-scale musicals including Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812 with Witch Music Theatre, and designed the premiere season of Give Way the Musical at Circa Theatre.
He was sound recordist, sound designer and assistant director for stoner-horror-comedy The Weed Eaters, which premiered at NZIFF 2025.
Oli also writes and produces songs for his band Hans Pucket.
